The dominant narrative about young people is wrong

Lazy, entitled, distracted. The stereotype is convenient for everyone except the people it describes.
Our advantage is our age. We say it often because the opposite belief is so widely held that young people start to repeat it about themselves.
Youth-led is not a branding decision at HazeYouth. Every director is young. Every programme is designed by people who will also sit in it. Decisions get made by the people who carry the consequences.
This is not sentimentality. It is accuracy. Nobody understands what it costs to be 19 in Kampala in 2026 better than someone who is.
Rewriting the narrative is slow work. It happens one room, one song and one honest conversation at a time.
